Carrickfergus Castle - About

Carrickfergus castle is located in the beautiful town located on the northern shore of Belfast Lough. The castle is 800 years old and is one of the best preserved medieval structures in Northern Ireland.

The castle was built by John de Courcy in 1177, and since then has been besieged by Scots, Irish, English and French.

If you decide to visit Carrickfergus castle you can pay a small fee at the entrance and can explore the castle and learn about its history at your own leisure.
