Castles and Monasteries

A visit to Northern Ireland’s Castles and Monasteries can capture the interest of many.

Many of the castles were built by the Normans, who arrived in Ireland in 1169. So some of them are up to 800 years old. Very different from the castles are the more modern but still old monasteries. They show impressive architecture with beautiful gardens.
